EDITORIAL DESIGN
Collections + Ephemera + Memorabilia
While physical media dwindles rapidly and personal artifacts are lost, Keep Sake is a magazine that encourages the creation and curation of personal collections. From postcards to records, to rabbits, Keep Sake explores why we hold on to things, and the impact of what we leave behind.
Art + Culture + Neurodivergence
How can you speak directly to the growing community of adults with ADHD? Hyper answers this question, as a magazine about the convergence of art and neurodivergent people. The brand design embraces hyperactivity as a guide, employing a frenzied style that celebrates the energy and creativity shared by prospective readers. The nameplate’s custom type uses line-work to hit a balance between chaos and control, while maintaining a sense of whimsy. Thele magazine’s overall sty incorporates vibrant colour, kinetic photo editing, and expressive typography to evoke feelings of surrealism and joy.

BRAND DESIGN
Refurbished Wedding Apparel
EverAfter is a hypothetical bridal shop that specializes in refurbished vintage gowns. The name EverAfter is a romantic interpretation of the company’s sustainability ethos: a belief that the end of one story can bring the exciting beginning of another. The brand’s design concept is to be dreamy, sensual, and mysterious. It was created with free-form curvaceous shapes, an undulating illustration style, and a jewel-toned colour palette. This strategically highlights the unique qualities of EverAfter in an otherwise fairly homogenous market, while alluding to the integral brand theme of rediscovering hidden treasures.
Kara Walker Artist Exhibit
Same Black Blood is a hypothetical exhibit for the mixed-media artist Kara Walker. It’s title represents the complex themes of the racism and violence in US history, entangled with a sense of community and kinship: all themes found in Walker’s body of work. The design challenge was to express these themes and create a system that was complimentary to the exhibit, without outright recreating the artist’s style. Conceptual cues were drawn from Walker’s art to create an animated, heavy and handcrafted design. The type appears carved from solid stone, but is filled with distorted, bleeding, and scratched pen marks to show that the reality of US history is violent and disordered: written in red, white, and blue ink.
PACKAGE DESIGN
2023 Edition Redesign
This project was re-designed packaging for the 2023 edition of the beloved 90s toy: Furby. The design concept was to create a vintage kids lock box come to life as Furby, appealling strongly to both today’s generation of kids and their parents. This was achieved by evoking nostalgia through the overall structure, while embracing a vibrant maximalist aesthetic with a modern flat and polished illustration style. New brand illustrations, patterns, and a wordmark were created to achieve this vision. To accommodate the maximalist style on limited space, French and English versions of each face are placed on corresponding opposite sides of the box.

Branded Skateboard Decks Illustrated series of skateboard decks for 5024 General Store: a cafe and skateboard shop located in Lacombe, Alberta. Owners Karlee and Spencer Renee envisioned 5024 as a welcoming third space for their community. The design pays subtle omage to the community by referencing vintage photography of Highway 2, the major route that connects Lacombe to Edmonton and Calgary. The concept draws from the experience of highway driving in a rural environment, from the mundane moments—to the thrilling and surprisingly beautiful.
